The Emergency Department at MidState Medical Center is a 54 bed unit (including a Fast Track area) that cares for patients across the spectrum of age, health, education, etc. The staff includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Associates, Unit Secretaries, Physicians, Mid-Level Practitioners, support staff, Public Safety Officers, and in-department radiology. The Emergency Department is equipped with all tools needed to safely care for any patient from central station cardiac monitoring to ultrasound equipment, to a specialized treatment space for patients needing behavioral health interventions, to our EHR (Epic ASAP). We are also a primary stroke center. We continue to grow and modify our department to create an environment of inclusiveness where all of our staff can work together to make sure we have a safe environment for our staff & patients, working the most efficiently, and providing the highest level of satisfaction for our staff & patients.Job Summary
Provides safe and appropriate basic patient care, as delegated by a Registered Nurse, in order to assist patients in achieving established outcomes by: performing comfort measures; assisting patients with activities of daily living (e.g. basic hygiene, toileting, nutrition, etc.); collecting data points (e.g. vital signs, EKG's, phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring, etc.) entering all lab request information into the database system; providing RN with information utilized in assessment; performing direct patient observation; reporting changes in patient condition to RN; reinforcing patient education; and performing wound dressings as needed.
- High school graduate or equivalent experience required.
- CNA Certified within 6 months or a nursing student with one year of clinical experience.
- Previous Emergency Medicine experience preferred.
- Previous EKG and Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- CPR validation within three months of hire.
- Candidate must possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
