For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
JOB SUMMARY
This is a paid Internship; not for school credit.
Duration: 2 weeks
The intent of this Internship is to help stimulate career interest and foster professional development as a Respiratory Therapist within the Hartford Healthcare system organization. The focus of this program is to immerse the Student Respiratory Therapist into the role of Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide foundational didactic and practical learning experiences.
Intern will provide direct patient care within a defined scope of practice under the direct and continuous supervision of an RCP preceptor. All work is co-signed by a Licensed Respiratory Practitioner.
Offer of employment as a future practitioner of Respiratory Care with Hartford HealthCare may be given upon successful completion of internship contingent upon:
• Performance
• Successful graduation from AMA approved Respiratory program
• Valid State of Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) granted by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Qualifications
Education Currently enrolled in an accredited AMA approved Respiratory program with at least 1 completed semester of clinical Respiratory experience.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: BLS certification required.
