Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Through our multi-site network of care, we constantly strive to meet its mission in helping people find their way while educating and empowering individuals to participate in their own care and recovery.

Job Summary:

Conducts and supervises psychological testing for clients in Natchaug hospital and in home as needed.

  • Conducts psychological evaluations including intellectual and personality assessment and neuropsychological screenings.
  • Interprets psychological tests.
  • Documents results as reports.
  • Communicates results to patients and customers (e.g. DCF, CSSD, schools, clinical team).
  • Actively participates in Service Planning meetings for each client to generate a collaborative final assessment with recommendations for service individualized to the client.
  • Maintains ethical and procedural standards for administration and interpretation of psychological test.
  • Supervises graduate students in Clinical Psychology as assigned.
  • Consults with peers and acts as a resource/consultant to other members of the treatment team.
  • Takes responsibility to improve work effectiveness and pursue opportunities to enhance personal and professional learning and development.

Qualifications

  • Connecticut Psychologist License required
  • Ph.D. or Psy. D. in Clinical Psychology 
  • Experience working with a behavioral health and/or chemical dependency population and experience with psychological evaluations including intellectual and personality assessment and neuropsychological screenings - two years preferred
  • Experience with a breadth of cognitive and personality testing and computer scoring of psychological tests
  • Excellent Keyboarding skills required
