Trauma Services

Full Time: 40 hours – (3- 13.5hrs shifts)

Weekend/ Nights/ Holiday rotation required. (Differentials offered.)

Hartford Hospital's Trauma Service is committed to creating an innovative patient centered delivery system that continuously improves quality care. The Advanced Practitioners (AP) are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for trauma patients from the emergency room, to the operating room, surgical floors, critical care units and even outpatient clinic.  The trauma AP works in collaboration with the attending trauma physician, trauma fellows, residents, other advanced practitioners and consultants.

Responsibilities include managing multiple patients with varied injuries and illness. The trauma AP will perform comprehensive physical assessments; interpret diagnostic results, complete daily progress notes, provide patient/family education.  Extensive training and supervision is provided to the AP for skills including but not limited to management and resuscitation of level 1-trauma patients, operating room skills, chest tubes, central lines and other procedures.

Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Requirements:

The applicant must be a graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant program.  They must have a current, or a pending Connecticut APRN or PA-C license, federal DEA, and CT controlled substance registration. For this position we are looking for qualified Advance Practitioner candidates with at least 1-2 years of trauma/surgical/critical care experience. ACLS is required. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to positively interact with medical/nursing staff and other members of multidisciplinary team.
