The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.
The Emergency Department at HOCC New Britain campus is a 47 bed unit (including a Fast Track area) that cares for patients across the spectrum of age, health, education, etc. The staff includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Associates, Unit Secretaries, Physicians, Mid-Level practitioners, support staff, Public Safety Officers, and in-department radiology. The Emergency Department is equipped with all tools needed to safely care for any patient from central station cardiac monitoring to ultrasound equipment, to a specialized treatment space for patients needing behavioral health interventions, to our EHR (Epic ASAP). We are a primary stroke & STEMI center. All staff work together and in a supportive environment to make sure we have a safe environment for our staff & patients, working the most efficiently, and providing the highest level of satisfaction for our staff & patients.
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Emergency Department. The Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Emergency Department is one the busiest in the state but, also has one the shortest wait times nationwide. Registered Nurses (RNs) will be responsible for caring for adult patients with conditions ranging from major trauma, heart attacks and stroke to more minor illness.
