Job Summary:

Cleans specifies areas of the health center including patient and public bathrooms, medical department and patient areas. Sets up for meetings, moves equipment and packages bio-hazardous waste. Maintains, constructs, inspects and repairs health center buildings, equipment and utility systems by planning and performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general mechanics and other building trade work. Work guides will be blueprints, specifications, schematics, written and oral instructions and applicable codes. The employee is subject to the usual hazards of the mechanical or other trades and is expected to apply appropriate safety precautions.

  • Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
  • Cleans and disinfects all furniture, floor, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms.
  • Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specifies bags or containers.
  • Wet mops rooms, halls, stairways and public areas.
  • Basic knowledge of procedures, techniques, materials and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment and associated systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the hazards and accident prevention when working with mechanical systems.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and equipment. Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose problems.
  • Performs maintenance, repair or replacement of broken parts. Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devises as necessary.
  • Assists tradesmen in servicing and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems following preventive maintenance procedure policies. Documents completion of PM work and reports need for major repairs.
  • Performs minor repairs on electrical equipment and machinery and to building and facilities, including painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing or electrical power.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts.
  • Makes minor plumbing repairs.
  • Repairs woodwork using carpentry tools.
  • Checks and replaces broken electrical switches and makes other electrical repairs.
  • Uses plaster and brick to repair and maintain buildings and facilities.
  • Assists maintenance mechanics in the servicing and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • 1 to 3 years of job related experience required.
