Position Description

This Rehab Educator position is with the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital – Inpatient orthopedics.

We are seeking a Rehab Educator to support our inpatient rehab clinicians with orientation, training and preceptorship. The rehab educator will lead our student program, assist with contracts, and onboarding/placement of student’s clinical education. This position will assist with developing and coordinating competency-based orientation and specialty training for the Bone & Joint Institute’s five joint commission accreditations, as well as providing continual research to maintain awareness of clinical guidelines, best practices and regulations. The rehab educator will also collaborate with leadership and cross department leaders regarding educational opportunities and maintain a system of tracking and accessing annual education requirements for compliance purposes.

Qualifications

Physical Therapist:

  • Current State of CT Physical Therapy license required Member of APTA

Occupational Therapist:

  • Current State of CT Occupational Therapy license required  Member of AOTA

Experience:

  • 5-10-year work experience with the acute medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological and orthopedic populations.
  • Prior experience mentoring staff and/or students highly preferred.

Critical Success Factors

  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively present and teach using various methods.
  • Weekend availability for training of per diem staff.
  • Knowledge of theories, principals, and practices of professional role.
