St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.

This Clinical Supply Coordinator is responsible for the utility and physical control of inventory and equipment servicing the Operating Room. The Supply Coordinator will recommend stock levels and ensure the availability of instruments and equipment required to meet the needs of the Operating Room schedule while optimizing inventory turnover and avoiding excess and waste.  Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

  • Orders and receives supplies, replenishes sub inventories according to par levels, and coordinates surgeon requests for equipment, non-stock items, instrumentation and vendor representation to assure Operating Room utility.  Monitors the flow of all inventories in or out of the department.  Returns unused items
  • Coordinates and researches requests for new products and communicates these requests to appropriate personnel for approval.  Organizes trial and implementation of new products to use.  Remains current with contract specifications, assures compliance to appropriate inventory and organizes inventory in a manner to optimize use. 
  • Maintains the current computer systems as they relate to inventory or consignment items.


• High school or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience:

2+ years’ experience in inventory control

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Supply Chain Information Systems, including Clinical and Non-Clinical inventory systems.  PeopleSoft experience preferred.
  • Requires bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to use handheld scanners / inventory management devices as required to perform inventory transactions.
