The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.
The License Practical Nurse (LPN) will be working directly with patients and their families to provide infectious disease services by collaborating with the providers of this department to provide safe, quality care. Responsibilities includes basic vitals, patient record updates, medical history input and review, medication administration, triaging, data collection and documentation, implementation of the plan of care through defined interventions and collaborating to meet patient and/or family education and follow up needs. This role also includes many administrative responsibilities including patient calls, scheduling, faxing, utilizing EPIC to communicate with providers and patients, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, managing referrals, incoming and outgoing, etc.
Responsibilities need to be performed in compliance with the policies, regulations and procedures of the department and hospital. This is an administrative and clinical position.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent required
Licensed Practical Nurse License required with one year experience preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the plan of care through planned nursing interventions and physician orders.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude.
Intermediate computer skills for use with email, Word, Excel and other operating systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Ability to lead and make sound decisions.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
