Purpose: The intent of this Fellowship is to increase the career interest and foster the professional development of potential cardiovascular nurses. This program is devoted to the role of the cardiovascular nurse and designed to provide students with a foundational didactic and practical learning experience. Hartford Hospital has been recognized as a Comprehensive Cardiac Center through The Joint Commission and American Heart Association and is committed to high quality evidence based care for the cardiovascular patient. The Fellowship will enhance the student’s education through direct observation of patient care and exposure to cardiovascular nursing responsibilities. Opportunities to attend relevant internal educational programs and meetings with staff members at Hartford Hospital will provide additional learning experiences for the nursing student. The fellows have the opportunity to apply for positions at Hartford Hospital in a cardiovascular nursing unit upon graduation.
Program Scope: The Cardiovascular Nursing Fellowship is for nursing students who are entering their senior year and who have a strong interest in cardiovascular nursing. Working together with the Nurse Educators and Cardiovascular Nurse Preceptors; the students will gain exposure to:
Program Schedule: The program will span eight (8) weeks in length, beginning June 5, 2023 and will be conducted at Hartford Hospital.
. Students will be scheduled for both formal classroom and clinical time. There is no vacation or personal time off during this eight week comprehensive program. If you are not able to commit to the entire 8 weeks, please contact us to formally withdraw from the program.
Qualifications
Application Process: Applicants must have achieved and maintained at least a 3.2 GPA and be in good standing.
