Postion Summary/ Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of a radiologist, performs CT procedures according to the Radiology Department’s philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Works with patient scheduling to assure department is properly scheduled
Assists in the evaluation of new equipment and services
Provides and ensures optimal technical quality and accuracy of all Ultrasound examinations according to the American College of Radiology (ACR) standards & FDA quality control requirements.
Maintains and monitors Ultrasound quality assurance on daily, weekly, and monthly basis
Lead Technologist duties consist of coordination of staff scheduling, training of new staff, problem analysis, protocol development, utilizing quality control and quality assurance techniques to ensure all exams are completed and financial requirements and support documentation are appropriately processed.
Provides input into process improvement, performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered, obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
Performs Ultrasound examinations with proper credentials.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
Assists physician with procedures as needed
Utilizes and maintains sterile field technique during procedures.
Positions patients and operates ultrasound equipment to produce the most reliable and informational data.
Recognizes the needs of the patient and possesses the ability to modify care according to patient age
Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Transports patients to procedure room; prepares and maintains room for daily activities
Responsible for ensuring that an accurate database of clinical and financial information is maintained in the Radiology Information System.
Performs daily quality control checks on ultrasound equipment, and ensures proper quality controls are in place
Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients and equipment.
Attends meetings as required, including monthly lead technologist and staff meetings
Preventive maintenance scheduling and troubleshooting
Exercises cost conservation in ordering / use of supplies
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Provides in-put in performance appraisals
Establishes policies and procedures specific to Ultrasound.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and workshops.

Job Knowledge, Skill Requirements, and Desired Attributes:
Experience working with PACS and digital technology
Qualifications
Education Certification:
Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – RDMS or RT(U)
CPR for the Healthcare Provider
Experience:
Five years’ experience in Radiology
At least 3 years’ experience in Ultrasound
Previous lead/supervisory experience preferred
