Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network is the premier rehabilitation provider in Connecticut. We provide rehabilitation services across the continuum - acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and in community settings such as senior centers, work sites, and schools and colleges. We offer over 30 outpatient locations with a variety of specialists, including oncology, women’s health, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language, we are known for our commitment to high quality, customer focused outcomes.
Hartford Healthcare Rehabilitation Network is offering a 12-month speech-language pathology (SLP) fellowship in the acute care setting. This intensive fellowship program is designed to provide mentorship and advanced practice experience with a complex adult patient population. The Clinical Fellow will receive a combination of clinical and didactic experiences through rotations across acute care specialty areas (medicine, neurology, intensive care), with a final elective rotation focusing on advanced dysphagia practice or post-acute care rehabilitation services. One-to-one clinical mentoring will be provided as well as opportunities for evidence-based projects and leadership skill development.
The Speech Language Pathology Fellow will become independent in the evaluation and treatment, and provide direct or indirect services that identify, restore and rehabilitate disorders of communication, cognition and swallowing to maximize a patient’s safety and independence. There will be emphasis on providing innovative and evidence based care to the neurologically impaired and medically complex population, including tracheostomy, head and neck cancer, disorders of consciousness, and specialized training in MBS procedures.
