Job Shift: Shift 2
Shift Details: 3p-1130pm Monday through Friday and occasional weekend and nights.

The Respiratory Care Practitioner administers respiratory therapy to assist, control and/or improve patients' breathing. Administers oxygen and other medical gases, aerosolized medications, positive pressure breathing devices, ventilators, resuscitation devices, etc. Performs pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments and performs additional related duties as assigned or necessary.

Supervise day-today activities of assigned staff and provide clinical expertise in all aspects of Respiratory Care with focus on promoting growth and development of health care team members, enhancing quality, cost-effective care and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve patient, health care team, department and organizational goals.

 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience as an RRT required
  • Advanced knowledge obtained through additional training and certifications required
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) granted by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
  • Valid State of Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
  • Active member of the American Association of Respiratory Care
  • Obtain and keep current with i-STAT validation, where applicable
  • BLS /ACLS Certification required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/NRP certification
  • Asthma Educator Certification (AE-C)
  • Pulmonary Disease Educator certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification
  • Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)  Specialist
  • Current Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) certification by The National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and project management
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  • Intermediate computer skills for use with email, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Respiratory Therapy practices.  Sufficient to be able to perform a wide range of duties relative to the work assigned.
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
