Job Summary

The Program Coordinator coordinates the day-to-day administration of the academic, operational and financial activities of one or more Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) residency and/or fellowship training program(s) in collaboration with the Program Directors (PDs)/Associate Program Directors (APDs), the Hartford Hospital Medical Education Office, attending faculty, residents/fellows and if applicable, the University of CT (UConn) GME office. All activities are performed in accordance with ACGME guidelines, Hartford Hospital GME policies and if applicable, the University of Connecticut.  Serves as Program Coordinator for the Hartford Hospital program and site coordinator (if applicable) for UConn Residency/fellowship Program(s).




  • Associate’s Degree in business administration, secretarial science or related field

Or, equivalency of combined education and experience.


Three (3) years’ experience providing high level administrative support to a complex department, function or group of professionals


Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements 

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Develops and maintains proficiency in utilizing database systems required to support graduate medical education training programs [i.e. ACGME, ERAS Database, New Innovations, GME Track, Web ADS HealthStream, if applicable – AMION, blackboard, Myevaluations
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive and detailed understanding of national accreditation policies and hospital policies.
  • Ability to utilize a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and able to work independently, prioritizing work and establishing procedures
  • Acts on behalf of and occasionally makes decisions in the absence of the respective PD/APD/Site Director (within limits)
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to come in early/stay later than scheduled hours as requested at certain times of the year
