The Division of Health Psychology at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital is pleased to announce a position opening for a full-time behavioral health clinician in the psycho-oncology program at Hartford Healthcare’s Cancer Institute. Psycho-oncology is a specialized behavioral health field which addresses the psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues that may arise after a cancer diagnosis. This includes, but is not limited to, counseling to improve adjustment to diagnosis, coping with treatment-related lifestyle changes, communicating and advocating support needs, and addressing survivorship, existential and/or end-of-life concerns. This provider will contribute to Cancer Support Services by offering both direct patient care using both in-person and telehealth services and facilitating complementary programs focused on group support, staff collaboration, and community education. Additional expectations for this role may include identifying community psychiatric resources for long-term counseling needs and creating programs that promote system-wide comprehensive support in alignment with the mission of the Cancer Institute to offer whole-person centered care. Opportunities for research and training also exist and are an integral part of the behavioral health clinician’s role.
