Job Summary

Manages day to day operations including but not limited to staff, material, and financial management in order to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations who require the needs of rehabilitation services. In collaboration with managers and regional directors, this position works to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective service is delivered in support of the organization’s strategic plan, goals and objectives.  

Key Areas of Responsibility
1.    Balance direct patient care responsibilities of role with administrative functions. Performs evaluations in the areas. Plans, implement, delivers and delegates patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions.
2.    Proactively manages staff change to minimize resistance and maximize engagement. Coaches, mentors, and guides staff to incorporate performance improvement initiatives into practice, and holds staff accountable for compliance with regulatory standards. Coaches, mentors, and guides staff to achieve professional and developmental goals.
Participates in the interviewing and selection of new employees. Ensures frequent and informal performance feedback as well as annual performance appraisals for staff. Holds staff accountable by adhering to hospital policies and standards for hiring, performance expectations, discipline and termination.
3.    Ensures the team uses the necessary resources to meet and exceed a standard of excellence, build efficiencies in processes and innovate new and creative ways to improve the work. Provides meaningful and individualized recognition and ensures that employees and self are committed to HHC’s vision, values, Leadership Behaviors and are motivated to contribute to organizational success.
4.    Monitor and achieve operational budgets to maximize profitability while maintaining a quality program. Accountable for results and outcomes of locations and programs in area of control. Responsible for maintaining site compliance and creating hospital/department policies and procedures, and remains within standards set by accrediting bodies such as Joint Commission and DPH.
5.    Grow existing services and assist new programmatic initiatives based on market demands. Participates in community and marketing activities. Promotes department through development of effective physician and nursing staff relationships and external customers - establishing and maintaining effective relationships that gains their trust and respect.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy. Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy preferred

Experience: Five (5) years’ experience as a supervisor or manager required.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:  State of CT licensure as Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapist required. Current BLS certification required.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
•    Understanding of the business aspect of rehabilitation.
•    Ability to analyze and develop key financial and operational metrics.
•    Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint as well as electronic heath records and other software applications.
•    Provide two-way communication between staff and HHCRN leadership.
•    Practices, promotes, and models HHC Leadership Behaviors and Lean Daily Management.
•    Create and support high performing teams and eliminate barriers for area of control.
•    Fosters an environment that encourages creativity and new ideas for continuous improvement and reduce unnecessary variation and implement standard work and best practice.
