JOB SUMMARY:

 

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Provider, the Medical Assistant (MA) will perform delegated functions as a member of the Neighborhood Health team to provide a variety of multi-skilled services. These activities contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients and are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory, state and company standards, policies and procedures.

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Responsible for collaborating with the staff for the day-to-day operations of the clinics:
  • Site set up and break down
  1. Provides safe and appropriate patient basic care and administrative duties in order to assist patients in achieving established outcomes by: collecting data points;
  • Vital signs: Weight, Temperature, HR, BP, RR, Pulse Oximetry, Pain
  • Allergies
  • Confirm all medications and reconcile medications; document pharmacy location if available
  • Past Medical History
  • Point of Care Testing (POCT)
  1. Performs direct patient observation: reports changes in patient condition to RN or provider.
  2. Perform various other duties as assigned
  3. Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly environment for patients and colleagues
  4. Contributes to improvement by participating in huddles, training, education and performance improvement activities as directed
  5. Models quality patient/customer services by:
  • Demonstrating a willingness to serve all customers at all times
  • Maintains an awareness of patient needs and utilize the initiative to respond to those needs within skill level
  • Utilizes tact, discretion and compassion in collaborating with other members of the team to ensure quality patient care
  • Initiates appropriate action in urgent situations by adjusting priorities to address customers and staffs immediate issues.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Diploma from an accredited medical assistant program required or Medical Certification required

                                                  

Experience:

  • Experience in healthcare associated or related environment required
  • EPIC required

 

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Medical assistant program required or Medical Certification required
  • BLS Certification required
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred

 

Language Skills:

 

  • English, Excellent verbal, written and personal communication skills required
  • Bilingual is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

           - Excellent communication skills demonstrated through written documentation, direct communication and using active listening skills

- Ability to shift with changing priorities and embrace change

- Customer service skills: proactively and promptly responds to customer needs
