Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut.  CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment.

Responsible for the day-to-day operational and managerial needs of the Engineering Department at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Responsibilities also include project management. This position reports to the Regional Director of Facility Management, Public Safety and Emergency Management. Manager  assists Director  in  Facilities and Engineering core  responsibilities  that include: recommendations for maintenance, repair, improvement, and/or replacement of facilities/assets by assessing the condition of facilities, establishing project priorities, and developing long range plans for upgrading or replacing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection equipment, and utility infrastructure, making structural repairs, replacing roofs, maintain or repairing exterior building envelopes, and refurbishing building interiors. This position also serves as the Chairperson of the Environment of Care Committee.

 

  • Manages the daily operations of the facilities and engineering department; ensuring that each shift is properly staffed to support the needs of the facility; with an understanding that off-hour demands and incident will require the full response and attention of the manager.
  • Supervises the maintenance staff; providing a strong support and leadership structure, completing annual performance reviews, providing timely constructive feedback to department personnel,
  • Manages the operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems and communications equipment. Ensures all work completed conforms to established hospital standards. Including recommendations for maintenance, repair, improvement, and/or replacement of facilities/assets by assessing the condition of facilities, establishing project priorities, and developing long range plans for upgrading or replacing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection equipment, and utility infrastructure, making structural repairs, replacing roofs, maintain or repairing exterior building envelopes, and refurbishing building interiors.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of all HVAC equipment, adhering to all DPH, OSHA, and CMS/TJC regulations, to ensure the facility meets established hospital and HHC standards.
  • Plans and implements facility building and renovation projects. Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
  • Ensure strategic design, plan development, performance monitoring and regulatory compliance with all policies, processes, and standards in addition to CMS, Joint Commission, CT DPH, local, state and federal regulations enforcing laws, and regulations governing environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal, and the use of chemical substances and materials. As Chairperson to multiple committees lead, prepare and provide updates including compliance data during PICC, Environment of Care, Safety, Workplace Violence Prevention, and other related committee meetings.
  • Prepares and monitors the department budget
  • Assists the Director of Engineering with various projects and initiatives
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors Degree in related field required

 

  • 7+ years of healthcare experience required

 

  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Federal OSHA certification required
