Position Summary:

The Senior Director leads and provides strategic direction for the Hartford HealthCare’s Revenue Cycle central services.  In collaboration with other Revenue Cycle partners and system/facility stakeholders, the Senior Director ensures compliance with regulatory requirements as well as maximizing operational efficiencies in across all revenue cycle departments. The Senior Director will demonstrate, through plans and actions, that there is a consistent standard of excellence across hospital, professional billing and HHC at Home and to which all departmental work is expected to meet. These standards will be based on establishing and maintaining a constancy of purpose, focusing on continuous improvement within area of influence, and delivering the highest degree of quality service possible. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Facilitates creation and ongoing maintenance of Revenue Cycle’s strategic plan.  Act as an influencer across Revenue Cycle by providing industry insights and performance benchmark trends and innovations to RC operational senior leaders.
  • Directly leads revenue cycle acquisition support, revenue cycle reporting services, denial prevention, and performance improvement and innovation initiatives. 
  • Completes (or contributes to the completion of) various financial forecasts, including cost center salary and direct expense, month-end financial reporting, receivables levels (days in A/R and aging), cost center productivity, and any long-range strategic plans 
  • Develops and implements business development practices and activities across all system facilities that contribute to the organization’s mission and align with its values
  • Coordinates projects with Revenue Cycle departments such as Patient Access, Health Information Management, as well as system departments such as Clinical Resource/Care Management, Finance, Radiology, Pharmacy and Medical Group practice leadership. 
  • Develops and maintains a high performance workforce. Develops multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality and efficiency using HHC’s operating model of H3W and Lean
  • Reviews and prepares reports regarding status of accounts receivable
  • Assess and responds to organizational and customer needs with innovative programs to ensure customer satisfaction; implements patient-centric processes
  • Keeps abreast of all regulations and standards to ensure compliance with orders or directives issued by duly constituted governmental/regulatory agencies or third-party payers. This covers such areas as billing, reporting procedures, and development of data to meet the requirements of billing and cost reporting for all payers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Health/Public Administration, Finance, or related field is required
  • Ten plus years of progressive experience in Healthcare Management in a Revenue Cycle or Financial leadership role 
  • Self-directed, thorough, and clearly identifiable as a leader
  • High energy, with the capacity to successfully manage many projects and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of current healthcare trends, regulations, and policies
  • Highly developed communication skills, successfully demonstrated in effectively working with a wide variety of people in both individual and group settings
  • Strong analytical skills. Problem-solving and inductive reasoning skills, which manifest themselves in creative solutions to operational skills
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems that affect the claim submission process, regardless of whether the problem originates in an area under direct or indirect control
  • Financial management skills, including the ability to financially analyze data for operations, budgeting, auditing, forecasting; basic accounting knowledge; AR and reserve analysis, market analysis; staffing and financial reporting skills
  • Leadership skills to motivate cross-departmental teams’ performance towards excellence and develop
  • Demonstrates skill in critical thinking, diplomacy, and relationship building
  • Exhibits a consistent commitment to continuous improvement
  • Organizes and manages work to achieve results and tracks performance so that problems are detected early on or can be prevented entirely
