Job Summary:
A competent individual with technical skills and broad-base knowledge of HIPAA, State and Joint Commision regulations relevant to the release of protected health information.. Will maintain release of information computer database and be responsible for preparing all required documents for release within State, Joint Commision, HIPAA guidelines to internal and external customers. Provides reception to requestors for information via the telephone or as a walk-ins and be able to conceptualize information required to process or deny requests based on legal and privacy regulations. Sorts incoming mail, retrieves medical records, files and purges records. Must have excellent organization, verbal and communication skills. Strong customer service skills, multitasking, and computer skills.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year in a Health Information Management (HIM) (medical record) department, Hospital, clinic, nursing home or equivalent one year in a HIM academic program.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: None required, preference given to candidate with successful completion of a health information management program.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma, HIM graduate or equivalent experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology, HIM Department, HIPAA, State, Joint Commision guidelines, file maintenance, record assembly, record completion, word processing, and computer skills is essential.
