Position Summary:

The Director of Nursing Well-Being will be responsible for advancing and improving fulfillment in nursing practice at HHC through the HHC Well-being Operational Model drivers- Culture, Efficiency & Safety and Resilience. Working within the Well-Being Department the Director will drive and enhance well-being initiatives throughout the organization as well as collaborate with system executives, senior leaders and other key stakeholders to identify specific opportunities to improve nursing professional fulfillment as measured in standard tools. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assess the current state and develop a three year plan to improve nursing well-being at HHC and bring “joy to the job”
  • Leverage internal resources to optimize current programs through a well-being lens
  • Understands the importance of, and model, well-being inspiring others to join this work
  • Expand and enhance the system-wide nursing peer support program to include crisis debriefing mechanisms, mentoring, and preventative interventions in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Advance overall colleague well-being through use of the Well-Being Operational Model & Drivers: Culture of Well-Being, Resiliency, and Workplace Efficiency & Safety
  • Leverage and monitor relevant data in alignment with the BSC and as determined by the Well-Being department
  • Identify, prioritize and address barriers to nursing well-being and develop focused interventions to improve nursing well-being through and with nursing leadership
  • Partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts across HHC to provide programs and resources to support well-being
  • Align & engage with all levels of nursing leadership to advance well-being as a driver
  • Advance and promote HHC and the Well-Being department through publishing and attending regional and national conferences
  • Develop/oversee team(s) to lead and engage nurses to create solutions to gaps in culture, efficiency, safety and resiliency
  • Partners with system functions (Human Resources, DEIB, Experience, IT/Informatics, Quality/Safety, Education & OD) to identify cultural, operational and technical barriers to well-being

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing is required
  • Seven plus years of clinical experience
  • Seven plus years of progressive leadership experience
  • Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
  • Highly effective analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Visible leader with excellent interpersonal communication skills who relates well with all levels of the organization
  • A creative, forward thinking leader with the proven ability to engage, coach and mentor direct reports, colleagues and other key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations including clinical and administrative responsibilities with an interest in Well-Being
  • Demonstrated ability to understand goals and metrics within in a highly matrixed organization across multiple regions and understand the impact of well-being on these
  • Ability to establish evidence-based strategy to address organizational needs
  • Experience in training and development from creation to execution
  • Knowledge of Change Management & Project Management principles
  • Strong collaboration and team work skills to share knowledge and influence best practices
