The COVID Associate will perform non-clinical tasks associated with COVID testing collection or COVID registration while ensuring safety and sterility. Properly identify patients and collect swab sample using anterior swabbing or guide patient’s through self-swabbing using knowledge of practices regarding proper methods of specimen collection. Confirms identification of patients, registers patients, and provides swabbing and resulting education.
Registration Requirements
Check in patients at testing location; verify identification and ensure accurate demographic information
Validate and upload information to Department Appointment Report (DAR), complete WQs associated with COVID testing
Follow beaker workflow within Epic to scan labels of test tubes for tracking
Cancel and reschedule appointments as needed
Assists in orientation of new staff members as requested; assists and collaborates with colleagues
Responds to changes in work schedules with flexibility as necessary or as requested, including weekends, evenings as well as varied site locations
Demonstrates competence in all procedures required
Inspires confidence from patients and visitors by performing and communicating in a professional manner at all times with ability to connect with various types of patients (such as children, elderly) and make them feel comfortable
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Language Skills
Read, write and speak English
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirement
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in busy, loud environments.
Able to maintain confidentiality
Able to follow routine verbal and written instruction, standard work
Able to work autonomously with minimal direction
Comfortable working with diverse populations
Completion of required training and demonstration of proficiencies in skills required
Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working.
Shows ability to handle unexpected situations and is able to exercise independent thought and actions when necessary
Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to various sites (mileage reimbursement offered)
