Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager of Outpatient Behavioral Health, performs a wide variety of psychiatric triage, telephone crisis intervention, physician support duties, administrative, secretarial and clerical duties in support of department operations.

Receives all telephone referrals from patients and providers. Provides clinical mental health telephone triage for calls and assignment to appropriate program and level of care.
Provides all required clinical and administrative support as assigned related to patient care, medications, lab work, daily schedules, and medical documentation for staff psychiatrist and APRN.
Insure through benefit eligibility verification that behavioral health managed care insurance for each patient is individually managed to minimize loss of revenue.
Utilizing the Meditech System, Registers and Charges all patient visits at time of visit with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy .
Collects and organizes data as assigned related to Charlotte Hungerford Process Improvement Measures, patient surveys and projects assigned by the Clinical Manager or Administrative Director.
Provide all assigned and required administrative and clinical support to Clinical Manager of Center for Youth and Families. Maintains records and files for director of patient services including minutes of meetings, policy and procedure manuals, quality assurance for associated areas as required by public health and JCAHO.
Provides all assigned clinical and administrative support for clinicians to meet the case management needs of patients while assisting clinicians with tasks that enhance clinical productivity.
Interacts with patients and their family members present for outpatient mental health treatment in a manner that engages family in services and embodies principals of recovery.
Responds to calls and visits from employees, other visitors including the public at large; determines urgency of the situation; suggests appropriate referrals. Answers telephones, prioritizes, screens and redirects calls. Answers questions, handles routine matters on own initiative and takes messages.
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Follows the home and community services division exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmental to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Associates Degree. Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred. High level personal computer skills.
Minimum of three years experience in related position, preferably healthcare and/or human services
Handles multiple priorities, independent discretion/decision making, manages stress appropriately, works alone effectively, works in close proximity to others and/or in a distracting environment, works with others effectively.
Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times, as observed by peers and management.
Reports to work on time and meets acceptable standard for attendance.
Moderate to advanced MS Word and MS Excel.
