JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Manager of Strategic Growth within ICP Contracting and Analytics, the Payer Analyst is responsible for evaluating the revenue and profitability impact of internal business initiatives and external policy & regulatory changes.  The Payer Analyst is responsible for providing accurate assessments and responding, on behalf of Managed Care, to requests within established timeframes for a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Revenue and profitability impact of changes related to strategic planning and other operational changes related to hospital and physician growth initiatives.
  • Ad hoc analysis measuring revenue impact of various HHC and Integrated Care Partner initiatives.
  • Reviewing and analyzing payor policy (and regulatory changes) impacting revenue while adhering to established contractual timeframes.
  • Maintain department tracking tools and develop new reports, working collaboratively with manager and others within ICP Contracting and Analytics.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Areas of Responsibility

  1. Respond to and track strategic planning initiatives including providing detailed rate analyses within established timeframe
  2. Assist with valuation and tracking of payor policy changes within contractual timeframe, or external regulatory changes as identified.
  3. Support the development of ad hoc analysis in support of HHC and/or ICP initiatives as assigned; ensuring end results fulfill initial requests or project goals.
  4. Support the development and maintenance of team tools to continually improve reporting and analytic needs,
  5. Research and coordinate with others within ICP Contracting to determine payor coverage for new services
  6. Monitors industry related news for related trends in healthcare, and/or proposed legislative changes which would impact revenue and utilization of offered services

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

Education:

BA/BS degree

Experience:

2 years of health care related experience with analytic focus

Preferred Requirements

Education

BA/BS degree in Health Care, Finance or Mathematics

Experience:

5 years of health care related experience with analytic focus

Hospital and physician contracting experience

Project management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Critical thinking skills required
  • Analytic and problem solving skills required, including experience working with large data sets using Excel, SQL, Tableau or other system experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functional areas
  • Knowledge regarding current and evolving provider payment methodologies with a focus on hospital and physician
  • Knowledge of governmental payment structures
  • Knowledge of EPIC system a plus
  • Broad knowledge on billing and coding as well as broad knowledge of health care finance and/or accounting issues
  • Customer service focus
