JOB SUMMARY:

We have a great opportunity for a Telecom Engineer II. This role will be responsible for managing projects for new acquisitions and various Telecommunications servers for applications. The Telecommunications applications include Voicemail, Call Detail Recording, Nortel AACC, Paging interfaces, Operator software, and other applications as needed. In this position, the employee will also identify, research, and resolve technical problems while providing positive leadership within the IT organization. Lastly, in this role, you will be asked to serve as subject matter expert on Telecommunications applications and telecommunications infrastructure architecture. The Telecomm Engineer II position is part of Hartford Healthcare’s technical team and is expected to lead Telecom acquisitions and software implementation and solution development.

The successful candidate will collaborate with vendors and internal customers, including the business leaders responsible for many acquisitions and new service related activities, e.g., site surveys, design, training and go live scheduling, etc., to deliver advanced telecom solutions which meet the needs of HHC Employees and HHC Customers. The individual must bring a passion for all aspects of telecommunications technologies, including VoIP networking, and engineering, multichannel routing, business visibility, quality monitoring, scheduling tools, etc., along with the ability to develop corporate direction for a multi-layered business organization.
Candidate should be able to deep dive into any related area for speedy resolution and develop systematic solutions/processes for future enhancements

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure engineers to design and build telecom related technology solutions and architecture to support Hartford Healthcare's project portfolio.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Hartford Healthcare's evolving telecom VOIP architecture. This includes ensuring appropriate performance, capacity, resiliency, security practices and redundancy for all platforms including cloud hosted solutions.
  • Work independently acting as relationship manager with internal business partners and application team to ensure optimal performance of telecommunications applications.
  • Work with telecom team to provide system administration to insure the appropriate installation, support and maintenance of the corporate telecom systems and associated hardware, software and applications.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on key technology trends in the industry leading to innovative solutions for business problems and initiatives.
  • Monitor systems to ensure appropriate performance and SLA's are not violated. Must have the ability to troubleshoot Avaya, Cisco, AACC, Paging systems, CDR systes.   Provide weekly and ad hoc system performance reports to management.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation as it relates to telecom and applications
  • Serve as subject matter expert on key technology trends in the industry leading to innovative solutions for business problems and initiatives.
  • Represent the Telecom Team on the design, build and operation of disaster recovery and business continuity resiliency program.
  • Facilitate the implementation of appropriate change management procedures following formal and informal processes when implementing production system changes.
  • Ensure timely resolution of incident management events and request fulfillment in accordance with defined Service Desk policies and procedures.
  • Be cognizant of network for capacity, bandwidth, traffic peaks, performance, and availability of Contact Center infrastructure to recommend improvements in technologies and practices to improve efficiency and metrics
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience related to telecommunications engineering
  • Desirable experience engineering and implementing all or some of the following application modules: call detail recording; paging using wctp protocol; server builds; voicemail
  • In-depth knowledge of project management for new builds and acquisitions
  • Proven experience in capturing, documenting, and supporting end users requests, as well as working as a key element bridging the needs of the business with the IT capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize management tools, assuring performance, and interfacing with vendors
  • Thorough understanding Avaya CM and Cisco CUCM
  • Understand product and software life cycle and capacity planning for telecommunications applications
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills

 Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline

  • Avaya certification is highly desirable
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, problem solving, presentation and leadership skills.
