The ICU at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 10 bed unit that cares for complex medical and surgical patients. These issues include but are not limited to: respiratory failure, sepsis, drug and alcohol withdrawal, liver and kidney injury/failure, gastrointestinal bleeding as well as post-op complications.  We care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation and NIPPV, and are able to continuously monitor blood pressure via arterial lines, cardiac output, capnography and oximetry. Members of our team include Intensivists, Clinical Leaders, RNs and multi-skilled techs. Our staff works together efficiently, in a supportive environment to provide high-quality compassionate care to our patient population.  

 

Job Summary

 

The Multiskilled Patient Care Tech/Secretary is responsible for performing specified tasks related to the care and well being of patients. These responsibilities may include but are not limited to: obtaining and documenting patient information; assisting in daily living activities; lifting, moving and transporting patients; management of drainage bags and associated documentation; providing personal care and feeding assistance as necessary; specimen collection; and preparing patients for or assisting in the preparation of patients for various tests and/or procedures.

Qualifications

  • State of CT Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required

  • One year job related experience in an acute care facility

  • Experience in phlebotomy and performing EKG tests
    Completion of all competencies with respect to areas of responsibility

  • Valid CPR certification or ability to complete upon hire

  • Computer systems proficiency

  • Prior experience with working clerical/pre-admissions/discharge functions in a health care setting
