The Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital is responsible for treating a wide variety of patients, from basic ailments to the most complex traumas, at our Level-I Trauma Center. This unit has some the highest acuity in the region, requiring our nurses to think and act quickly to meet the varying needs of our patients. Comprised of 109 beds, the unit is subdivided into different pods, including the Purple Pod for Behavioral Health patients and Red Pod for the most severe cases. We are also a primary stroke and cardiac center. Successful healthcare providers on this unit are highly skilled, agile and resilient; with the ability to work together to make sure we have a safe environment and provide the highest level of satisfaction to our staff and patients.

 

Job Summary

 

The Unit Leader will lead the Emergency Department Patient Administrative Associate workgroup under the supervision of the Nurse Manager to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective service is delivered in support of the hospital’s strategic plan, and the department’s goals and objectives.  Models the efficient operation of the unit with daily responsibilities that include but are not limited to managing scheduling, work assignments, onboarding of employees, and assisting with quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or appropriate certification may be required
  • Strong communication skills required – both written and verbal
  • Experience leading employees required
  • Customer service or patient care experience required
  • Cardiac monitoring experience preferred
