POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Cleans specifies areas of the health center including patient and public bathrooms, medical department and patient areas. Sets up for meetings, moves equipment and packages bio-hazardous waste. maintains, constructs, inspects and repairs health center buildings, equipment and utility systems by planning and performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general mechanics and other building trade work. Work guides will be blueprints, specifications, schematics, written and oral instructions and applicable codes. The employee is subject to the usual hazards of the mechanical or other trades and is expected to apply appropriate safety precautions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms. 85 25 1011
  2. Cleans and disinfects all furniture, floor, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms. 85 25 1012
  3. Responds to hospital code situations in an appropriate manner as indicated in departmental policies and procedures. 90 60 1147
  4. Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specifies bags or containers. 85 25 1010
  5. Wet mops rooms, halls, stairways and public areas. 85 25 1002
  6. Communicate properly through Medi-tech system using O.A. and Housekeeping module. 85 25 1044
  7. Basic knowledge of procedures, techniques, materials and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment and associated systems. 90 60 1158
  8. Basic knowledge of the hazards and accident prevention when working with mechanical systems. 90 60 1159
  9. Uses hand tools, power tools and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and equipment. 90 60 1031
  10. Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose problems. 90 60 1032
  11. Performs maintenance, repair or replacement of broken parts. 90 60 1033
  12. Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devises as necessary. 90 60 1034
  13. Assists tradesmen in servicing and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment. 90 60 1161
  14. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems following preventive maintenance procedure policies. Documents completion of PM work and reports need for major repairs. 90 60 1163
  15. Performs minor repairs on electrical equipment and machinery and to building and facilities, including painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing or electrical power. 90 60 1002
  16. Cleans and lubricates parts. 90 60 1035

  19. Checks and replaces broken electrical switches and makes other electrical repairs. 90 60 1081

  21. Assists maintenance mechanics in the servicing and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment. 90 60 1030
  22. Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies. 90 60 1124
  23. Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits. 90 60 1022

  7. Shampoos rugs and furniture. Cleans vents, fans and other equipment using vacuum machines. 85 25 1003

  8. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. 10 20 1022

  9. Maintains department records, reports and files as required. 10 50 1011

Qualifications

EDUCATION

The job requires a High School graduate.

 

EXPERIENCE

The job requires one year but less than three years of job related experience.
