Job Summary:

 

Ensure the successful implementation of the Department of Philanthropy’s mission and goals through the effective management and growth of the Major Gifts program. This position is responsible for leadership and strategic planning, staff management, identifying, engaging and leading the Major Gifts Committee, meeting or exceeding Major Gift departmental goals and best practice benchmarks, suspect capture, prospect research and tracking, and to lead initiative to grow the Clinical Champions Program.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for Leadership and Strategic Planning such as: serves with Vice President, Philanthropy, and Director of Development as member of Leadership Action Team; develops annually the Major Gifts component of the Department of Philanthropy plan, incorporating strategic and creative ways to broaden and further strengthen major gifts activities; develops the Major Gift budget with the VP, Philanthropy. Work with Administrative Associate on tracking department cost centers; provides Major Gift quarterly reports to the Development Committee; and develops mini-campaigns for major gifts.

Responsible for Staff Management such as directly supervises and ensures the best success of the Development Officer(s). Includes all goal setting and strategic planning, quarterly goals meetings, performance evaluations and coaching.

Responsible for identifying, engaging and leading Major Gift Committee by: overseeing all research and support materials for members including suspect lists, prospect profiles, case statements, template letters, etc.; ensuring active engagement of all members by working with committee members individually to implement cultivation and solicitation strategies and sustain their enthusiasm; organizing and leading committee meetings; and initiating and supervising: monthly prospect action reports to committee co-chairs.

Responsible for meeting or exceeding Major Gift departmental goals and best practice benchmarks such as: managing the identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition of approximately 100+ prospects; supporting and coordinating efforts of Development Officer(s) and Relationship Managers with their portfolios of prospects; soliciting donors for gifts of $25,000 and above either alone or in concert with the President and CEO, the Vice President for Philanthropy, Board and Medical Staff leadership; and identifying and utilizing tailored gatherings to further advance relationships with prospects through individual or group luncheons, dinners, tours and other activities.

 

Responsible for suspect capture and standardizing and supervising prospect tracking systems to include all action reports. (Assistant Director of Development will provide prospect research)

 

Responsible to lead initiative to grow Clinical Champions Program by overseeing the partnering efforts and success of the Department of Philanthropy with Medical Staff, encouraging and tracking Medical Staff efforts to identify and help introduce prospective donors of major gifts and by involving the President and CEO, the Vice President, Philanthropy and other Administration / Medical Staff leaders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in related field, Master's in related preferred.
  • Ten (10) years' experience in Major Gifts programs
  • Leadership/ Supervisory experience
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive [CFRE] preferred
