St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.

Job Summary:

Organizes and coordinates quality, risk and patient safety program activities and workflow. Serves as a lead and works collaboratively with the leadership team to prepare for regulatory inspections; JC, DPH, DCF. Creates written responses and maintains regulatory corrective action plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates quality, risk and/or patient safety aspects of The Joint Commission continuous readiness program.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment
  • issues, implementation of new services and systems/ performance measures.
  • Supports activities related to quality and risk reduction initiatives and compliance with patient safety
  • standards.
  • Collaborates with Risk Managers and Quality Performance Improvement Specialists within Hartford Healthcare and the behavioral Health Network.
  • Ability to present data analyses to non-analytical audience i.e. clinicians and administrators.
  • Analyzes and reports on data collected from a variety of sources. Develops detailed quality
  • reports for specific groups and service lines.
  • Drills down and investigates root causes for deviations or fallouts impacting core measures and other target goals.
  • Maintains inventory of all quality reports and investigations.
  • Manages all audits and responses to audits and action plans.
  • Assists in investigations of high risk events and patient allegations.
  • Participates in SERT, DPH, CMS, DCF and other regulatory investigations, reporting and action planning.
  • Works with leadership team to implement performance improvement and other quality initiatives across the
  • entire service line/BH departments.
  • Works with leadership team to implement initiatives and continuously monitor the patient experience.
  • Performs service recovery using a patient centered approach.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Current Connecticut RN license (if applicable)
  • Certification in mental health, risk or quality preferred but not required.
  • EPIC certification recommended.

Education:

  • Must have a Master Degree in any of the following; mental health related field, nursing, social work, counseling, psychology or human services.

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a mental health setting. Must have experience in acute healthcare and specifically in Risk/Quality. Must have extensive experience working with state regulatory agencies.
  • EPIC, Premier’s Quality Advisor as well as data base management
