The Lean Office is part of the System Support Office, which recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities continue to evolve to ensure our departments work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.

Overview:
The H3W Lean Facilitator is responsible for guiding and coaching leaders through the Lean Model from Strategy Deployment, Visual Management systems and process improvements aligned to What Matters Most.  There are approximately 950 workgroups (departments) across the system on the HHC Lean Journey. The facilitator and reports to a Sensei (Executive Lean Coach).

Candidates are required to have essential interpersonal, technical, social, navigational and influencing skills. This Lean transformation is founded on values, behaviors and principles that guide both decision making and outcomes that the facilitator must model consistently. The H3W Lean Facilitator is also required to adhere to Lean office standard work, have an open mind, a team player, an effective communicator, flexible, dedicated and model high performance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Promote and role model our values and leadership behaviors
  • Deliver training (e.g. management system, A3 problem solving, workplace excellence, etc.) 
  • Kata coaching and ongoing mentoring to managers, directors, and vice presidents
  • Support leaders with establishing visual management huddles and performing Leader Standard Work
  • Supporting idea generation, A3 problem solving sessions, rapid improvement kaizen events and both regional and system-wide initiatives.
  • Engage in Lean office advanced initiatives and annual improvement priorities
  • Support workgroups through their Lean maturity journey:
    • Bronze stability (dashboard development, process mapping, standard work, skill matrix, 5S, TPM, Kanban and proficiency in daily management and A3 thinking, etc.)
    • Silver performance (mastery of daily management and A3 thinking, strategy deployment and x-matrix use, value stream mapping, kaizen events, benchmarking and advanced cultural enablers, etc.)
    • Gold best-in-class (system-wide integration, service line alignment, innovation, breakthrough thinking, etc.) – in development   
  • Performing baseline strategic assessments, preparing workgroups for certification assessments, analytical interpretation of the information and ensures strategic alignment.
  • Partner with internal and external expertise to leverage our H3W Operating Model to advance workgroups to achieving their strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors required (in related field preferred). Master preferred (in related field)
  • Preferred fields can include Lean management, operational management, strategic management,   leadership & organizational development, organizational psychology, executive/management coaching, quality, or other continuous improvement fields.

Experience:
 

  • 5 to 7 years of progressive work experience in areas that can be applied to support offices of a health care environment.
  • Experience in Lean implementation, management and organizational or leadership development is desired.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio required; Use of SharePoint, Minitab, and project management software’s, a plus.
  • Desired Licenses/Certifications: Formal Quality Improvement (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, Quality),  Customer Service, Executive/Management Coaching, Organizational Design, Facilitator and/or Training Certifications, a plus
