JOB SUMMARY


Performs a variety of tasks related to cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution of equipment, instrumentation and supplies required by medical, nursing, and paramedical personnel for the care, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Serves as a resource and mentor to new staff. Takes charge role when assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Position requires two (2) years of Sterile Processing experience and/or surgical experience
License and Certification:
CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) required.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Associate degree
Experience:
More than (2) two years of Sterile Processing experience and/or surgical experience
License and Certification:
CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Ability to read and understand oral or written instructions, and communicate necessary information. Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data. Ability to operate applicable hospital equipment.


PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures. Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member. Supports and encourages a harmonious working relationship within and between departments. Actively supports group decisions. Self-Motivated, performs job duties utilizing effective time management. Seeks additional work as time permits.
