Southington Care Center is a 130-bed facility specializing in short-term inpatient rehabilitation and rehab nursing care, long-term care and outpatient rehab services. Southington Care Center also offers a specialized program for dementia and memory-impaired residents. Our second floor garden room and therapeutic outdoor space brings the outside in, incorporating the benefits that the natural world brings to creating a comforting and nurturing environment. The center features a state-of-the–art rehab pavilion complete with Aqua Therapy and an Occupational Therapy suite that replicates the home setting. Our staff promotes quality of life while fostering maximum well-being, with a wide range of wellness programs.

Position Summary:

The Executive Director is responsible for creating an environment where staff are highly engaged and focused on providing the highest level of care and compassion to patients, residents, and families. The Director will be a strategic driver of business excellence, staff excellence, clinical excellence, and customer excellence, ensuring regulatory and policy compliance and working in close collaboration with the Director of Nursing and other department heads.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day clinical and administrative activities of the facility, establishing financial and programmatic goals for the facility
  • Provide leadership to all facility staff in meeting the goal of providing quality resident care
  • Represent and establish relationships with surrounding community and hospitals and other health care providers to continually work to meet the residents’ needs
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the QAPI program. Promote and utilize the QAPI method in addressing areas of concern in quality measures
  • Financial management of the facility, while working to meet budgetary goals
  • Form relationships with staff, residents and their families to grow satisfaction and census
  • Identify operational issues and implements solutions
  • Assist department heads in the development and use of departmental policies and procedures and in the operation of their departments including correcting problem areas and improving services
  • Maintain and guide the implementation of facility policies and procedures in compliance with corporate, state, federal, and other regulatory guidelines
  • Implement the strategic direction of the organization
  • Create relationships with referral sources and directs Admissions/Marketing department in following census leads
  • Creative in providing continuity of care and maintaining employee motivation. Provide support and encouragement to staff in providing an atmosphere of self-improvement
  • Develop programs and implement changes successfully

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. A Master’s degree in  Public Health Administration, Business Administration, or health related field preferred
  • Current, unencumbered Nursing Home Administrator license with the State of Connecticut
  • Five plus years of leadership ability as an Administrator in either a long-term or subacute care facility
  • Strong experience as a leader and developer of high performing teams and employees
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Experience developing and using metrics to measure performance of teams, processes, and services
  • Strong financial analysis skills and strategic planning. Solid understanding of operational impact on profit and loss and experience creating and managing a budget
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance issues
  • Strong human resource management skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Solid change management skills
