Job Shift: Shift 3
Shift Details: 11pm - 7.30am / Weekends

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures positive patient and customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by the Hospital, Department and Regulatory Agencies. Acts as a positive role model and team leader  demonstrating HHC mission and values. Must be sensitive and attentive to all patient/guest needs.

 

Transporting Patients, Medical Equipment and Patient Related Items

  • Monitoring ED equipment cameras to ensure Stretcher par level is maintained
  • Spot check equipment delivered to ED storage areas for cleanliness and functionality
  • Monitoring equipment removal zones to ensure that assigned staff are compliant with rounding their respective areas
  • Monitoring delivery areas that are on a par level replacement schedule to ensure that all deliveries have been completed
  • Liaise between the Nursing Coordinator team,  PSSC PFCs and transport staff
  • Immediately escalate issues to the assigned On-Call manager when necessary
  • Monitor the flow of equipment in & out of the Equipment express cleaning areas and storage spaces
  • Monitoring epic command center
  • Backfill critical staffing shortages
  • Complete a nightly Shift Check List
  • Communicate any staff compliance issues to the Assistance Director
  • Report to any active tasks with extended delays as directed by PSSC
  • Answer calls via the Overnight team lead cell phone
  • Checks equipment storage spaces nightly to ensure availability of equipment for early morning deliveries
  • Checks equipment Preventative Maintenance dates; pulls equipment nearing PM date for biomed
  • Perform other duties as assigned and when required


 

Qualifications

 

REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact, motivate and communicate with a wide range of staff and hospital personnel in a professional manner; guest relation’s skills must be strong, genuine, and noticeable.

Preferred Requirements

Three or more months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work in general hospital environment with the potential for category I exposure related to blood and body fluids when transporting patients.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to stand balance and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Be able to bend/stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and climb.
  • Be able to reach above shoulder level, lift, carry, push and pull 50lbs or more.
  • Be able to see, hear and speak.
  • Be able to use both hands.

Mental Requirements:

  • Be able to operate under stressful and emergent situations.
  • Be able to read, speak and comprehend English.
  • Be able to solve problems.
  • Be able to follow directions.
  • Be able to utilize good judgement in order to assess safety concerns.
  • Be able to remain courteous when dealing with patients, visitors and staff.
