St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. Job Summary:


The Perioperative Services Program Manager works collaboratively with the leadership team and works cross functionally regarding implementation of strategic planning, program development, operational quality improvement, and financial/budget reporting and monitoring for perioperative services. Oversees clinical operations for the programs in perioperative services, utilizing specialized expertise and training.  


  • Develops program goals and infrastructure within the operating room, in collaboration with institute and perioperative leadership,.
  • Manages operating room case scheduling and equipment required for institute/service line.
  • Manages staffing resources to support specific service with operating room, in collaboration with the perioperative leadership,
  • Develops clinical pathways in accordance with AORN patient care standards of service line; works collaboratively with perioperative educator on in servicing and educational opportunities. Leads and monitors patient satisfaction, initiates and collaborates with team to promote positive patient experience.
  • Manages vendors, materials and resources for surgical cases; provides feedback in capital needs for service line.
  • Develops and implements quality objectives and short and long term goals, policies, procedures, protocols and recommended practices for assigned areas. Communicates and documents quality and patient outcomes as well as all progress in identified metrics.
  • Plays a key role with hiring for clinical roles that support service line within the operating room.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  

Education Bachelor’s Degree

Education Master’s Degree

 

Experience

5- 7 years of RN experience

Demonstrated progressive leadership experience with a minimum of 2 years

Experience

Demonstrated experience in surgical operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Surgical Services. 
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in creating, implementing and managing hospital protocols and quality systems.
  • Excellent foundation of perioperative services operations/administration.
  • Knowledge of specialized applications software for medical record, patient scheduling and billing.
  • Strong ability to work completely independently,
  • Must be able to use sound judgment in solving problems.
  • Strong ability to coordinate many complex systems and programs simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Specialized knowledge and training in areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
