Shift Details: Monday - Friday 11am-4pm

For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.


JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting clinical laboratory in specimen processing including: recording, storage, retrieval and disposal. Assists in selected technical processing within the histology laboratory. Maintains inventory, acts as specimen courier, assists in waste disposal, keeps work areas clean and assists in equipment maintenance throughout the entire clinical lab.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; additional college credits preferred


Experience: Previous clinical laboratory experience is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Must be able to follow procedures with minimal supervision. Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data. Must be able to pay attention to detail.
