Position Summary:


The Director leads the Billing team in the timely and compliant submission of hospital and professional claims across the system. The Director, collaborating with internal and external departments, serves as a change agent and facilitator in planning, designing, and implementing processes and internal controls for claims submission.



Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide planning, analysis, leadership and oversight of claims processing operation for the system
  • Provide leadership related to implementation of Epic billing modules
  • Collaborate in the identification of gaps in processes and procedures that are consistent with best practices and ensures representation on policy, procedure and quality workgroups
  • Develop quality strategy and reports billing outcomes
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement strategic plans to support Revenue Cycle
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the allocation of resources to promote efficient and effective workflow
  • Responsible for department budget projections and monitoring
  • Creates partnerships throughout the system, Revenue Cycle and with professional organizations
  • Develop and implement solutions to optimize revenue collections
  • Primary point of contact and leadership responsibilities for clinicians and leadership as it relates to Billing Operations
  • Evaluate and develop data driven action plans for efficient, ethical, and productive business practices that lead to patient, employee and physician satisfaction
  • Develop short and long term objectives and goals to ensure readiness for regulatory and industry changes
  • Develop and maintain written operational policies and procedures to ensure consistent processes
  • Assist in identifying, recommending, and implementing operational changes that will improve service, productivity, quality, and/or financial performance of the organization
  • Develop performance criteria and experiences to support staff development.  Teach, coach and mentor


  • Bachelor’s Degree is required

  • Ten plus years of Revenue Cycle experience

  • Five plus years of progressive leadership

  • Strong knowledge of hospital and professional billing and claims

  • Proven track record in planning, building, and executing compliant billing practices with focus on patient experience and fiscal responsibility to organization

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to effectively manage, motivate and develop staff

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan and work independently

  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
