Job Summary:

 

The Assistant Director of Special Events & Communications plans and implements a comprehensive plan to manage and coordinate philanthropy events designed to increase charitable support from corporate, foundations, and individual donors primarily at the $10,000 level and above. Reports to VP of Philanthropy, Fairfield Region.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·       Swim Across the Sound Marathon – Responsible for managing this signature high profile fundraising event. Continue to raise awareness throughout the region and HHC system wide. Ensure successful management of Swim Committee, safety and logistics. Manage registration and legal contracts of swimmers and boat captains through multiple platforms. Responsible for the management of the Swim Talk Newsletter. Manage sponsors and expenses to ensure high net goals.

·       Management of events to ensure events are successful and recognized regionally and system wide. Steward donors that will continue to support events, as well as identify and cultivate new donors for direct and in-kind support. Management of logistics including, but not limited to the review and selection of marketing materials in concurrence with marketing and communications department including invitations and recognition items. Coordinate venues, caterers, florists, photographers and scheduling of speakers. Responsible for keeping expenses within budget to meet the goals of net proceeds.

·       Supervision of the Administrative Coordinator to ensure seamless support of administrative duties for events and philanthropy team.

·       Responsible for development and management of digital communications, social media, and website.

·       Responsible for writing event solicitation letters to grow and expand event sponsorships, as well as event donor acknowledgement letters.

·       Third party events – Offer support to 3rd party event planners for fundraising events as needed. Review all marketing materials and contracts. Ensure promotion of these events on the Philanthropy website and social media platforms.

Qualifications

 

 

Education:

 

·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience

 

·       Five years’ related experience with 3 years in a managerial role preferred.

·       Proficiency with RE DB, social media and Adobe preferred.
