Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Job Summary

Utilization Review Care Manager coordinates the care of clients in collaboration with clinical program staff.  Liaison with insurance companies and other referral sources.  Obtains level-of-care authorizations from managed care companies when clinically necessary. Requires in-depth knowledge of behavioral health services in order to accurately articulate and advocate for patient’s care requirements and effectively obtain authorizations. Ensures that authorizations are current and documented as required. This is a hybrid position. 

Qualifications

  • Connecticut licensure required; LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC, or Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a behavioral health setting, 3 years with Masters required
  • Documented assessment skills of biopsychosocial needs of behavioral health clients required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers, patients, families, referral sources and managed care organization representatives
  • Computer proficiency and keyboard skills required
