Shift Details: Supervisor of the Nursing Service Office responsible for daily function and oversight of the Staffing Analysts. Must have extensive experience in UKG Dimensions and Microsoft Office

St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. Job Summary:

This position has oversight of the daily operations of the Nursing Service Office (NSO), the Staffing Analysts and Staffing Coordinators, and is responsible for NSO work schedules, job assignments, cross-training team members, and supporting the hiring process. In addition, this position is responsible for forecasting organizational staffing needs on a 7-day and 30-day basis, overseeing NSO employees' performance, providing guidance, supporting/identifying development needs, and managing the reciprocal relationship between inpatient managers, staff, and the NSO.

 

The NSO supervisor Daily operations include, but are not limited to, identifying the inpatient and Emergency Department staffing needs and preparing shift-to-shift staffing report.


Responsibilities:

·        Oversee staffing analysts.

·        Ensure equity in their department’s schedules, targets are met for unit staffing matrices, and an adequate blend of veteran and new staff are scheduled. 

·        Oversee staffing coordinators to ensure proper triage of calls through the NSO, metrics and data are properly tracked, and timekeeping system (UKG Dimensions) is current with all labor transfers.

·        Maintain scheduling and timekeeping of staffing analysts and staffing coordinators.

·        Manage and approve paid time off and requested days off, approve timecards.

·        Monitor productivity.

·        Provide constructive feedback and training.

·        Set performance goals that align with the organization's strategic and tactical plans.

·        May cross cover for staffing analyst’s time off.    

·        Create and maintain the centralized scheduling process for unit secretaries and one inpatient unit.

·        Ensure compliance with legal and HHC policies.

·        Foster a work environment that makes a positive impact on colleagues.

·        Triage calls through the NSO.

·        Order NSO supplies.

·        Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

 

·        High School Diploma or equivalent.  Associate’s degree preferred.

 

Experience

·        Experience using Microsoft Office and UKG Dimensions.

·        Supervisory or team lead experience.

 

Language Skills

·        Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements 

·        Demonstrated leadership skills.

·        Effective communication skills.

·        Computer literacy includes Microsoft office and Excel, and ability to learn new technology and applications.

·        Strong problem solving and process improvement skills. 

·        Ability to lead, supervise, coordinate and hold staff accountable.

·        Demonstrated attention to detail in all aspects of work.
