Job Description
The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Clinical Reviewer’s (MBSCR) chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data to the ACS Bariatric Data Registry Platform (MBSAQIP). This task is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and entry of 100 percent of bariatric procedures performed at the center. The MBSCR works closely with the members of the bariatric and general surgery departments to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified. The MBSCR shall have access to all relevant patient documentation/reporting systems to assure data collection. This position works in collaboration with the Metabolic and Bariatric Program Coordinator, bariatric surgeons, and Quality Department.
Travel required between offices as needed.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Bachelor’s Degree in other field acceptable.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Current CT Nursing License
Experience
· Minimum of 2 years medical/surgical hospital or office nursing experience or experience in clinical research/medical records or clinical quality improvement.
· Bariatric/MBSCR experience preferred
· Clinical knowledge and understanding of patient care related to data collection and identification of areas for quality improvement.
· The ability to learn and utilize new software and web applications for data entry and report generation. Competence with Microsoft Office® (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic statistical skills. The ability to learn Microsoft Access®.
