Shift Details: Westport office is open 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am-330pm Friday

Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network is the premier rehabilitation provider in Connecticut. We provide rehabilitation services across the continuum - acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and in community settings such as senior centers, work sites, and schools and colleges.  We offer over 40 outpatient locations offering physical, occupational, and speech therapy, in specialties including orthopedics, neuroscience, oncology, women’s health, sports medicine, vestibular, and more.  We are known for our commitment to high quality, customer focused outcomes.

Overview: 
We are currently seeking a per diem Exercise Physiologist for our Westport Outpatient Rehab Clinic. 

The Exercise Physiologist implements and supervises physical exercise programs for patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation. 
  • Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current
    medication regimen. Monitors patient's response and revises plan accordingly.
  • Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Responds appropriately to all
    situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking
    and education classes.
  • Collaborates with physician regarding the exercise prescription for each patient. Maintains in-depth
    knowledge of monitoring and arrhythmia identification.
  • Preparation of report on individual patient to appropriate physician. Appropriately charts progress in
    Medical Records. Maintains appropriate documentation of patient care.
  • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the departmental equipment. Maintains equipment in optimal functioning condition in accordance with manufactures guidelines. provide staff with educational
    in-service for proper and safe use of equipment. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Exercise Physiology / Science or related degree M.S. preferred

• Basic monitor interpretation skills and must successfully pass dysrhythmia class within 3 months of
hire.

• ACSM Clinical Certification Preferred.
