For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
Job Summary Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.
Qualifications
Education: Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
Experience: In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
Experience: Relevant experience or Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office. EPIC EMR experience.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 90 days of hire date or job transfer date.
Language Skills: Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English. Bi-lingual preferred.
