The Emergency Department at Windham provides patients with high levels of care, with symptoms ranging from traumas to the common cold to drug overdoses and everything in between. Our multi-disciplinary team includes Registered Nurses, Advanced Providers, Nursing Assistants, and administrative staff. The Emergency Department at Windham is equipped with 23 beds, including a fast-track area, and behavioral health space. Our RNs see a wide variety of patients, including those with behavioral health and opioid related needs. Our staff prides itself in its flexibility, initiative to help others in need as well as our strong cohesiveness as a team which ultimately gives our patients the highest level of care they expect and deserve.
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of an RN or his/her designee, the Patient Care Technician will assist the RN and MD in providing direct care to patients according to age specific needs. Patient types include: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, older adult
Accurately measures and records vital signs, including postural vital signs, reports changes to the RN as soon as discovered. Assists patients with ADL's including bathing, back care, hair washing and documents accordingly. Performs and documents Blood Glucose. Reports all findings to RN
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent
Experience:
Certified Nurses Aid certificate, Nursing Student, EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or EMT -P (Paramedic) with clinical experience required. One year pre-hospital or acute experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills preferred. Knowledge of arrhythmia detection and phlebotomy preferred.
Certification:
BLS certification required or completion within the first three months of employment.
