Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut.  CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment.

 

To promote safe, quality patient care by functioning as a clinical support and mentor for nursing staff for the purpose of improving critical thinking and clinical skills.  To provide clinical educational experiences that fosters the professional development of nursing staff.

  • Provides educational activities that support the orientation, training, and competency programs.  Activities may involve infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. 
  • Provides unit-based support for clinical staff in the provision of patient care.  Functions as a role model and mentor to enhance cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills.
  •  Identifies learning needs in the clinical area.  Utilizes Simulation Learning Center to present case scenarios for the purpose of improving critical thinking and clinical skills.
  •  Assesses, monitors, and evaluates the quality of nursing documentation, making educational recommendations and facilitating the implementation of suggested changes.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse;
  • Three or more years recent acute care experience
  • Two years teaching experience or equivalent experience as a preceptor in nursing environment.
  • Leadership and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work in a time-oriented environment, including exposure to all patient elements: i.e. blood borne pathogens and physical requirements: lifting, standing, and walking.  May be exposed to environmental hazards. 
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Current MSN or enrollment in a MSN program within nine months of accepting the
