Every day, almost 30,000 Hartford HealthCare employees come to work with one thing in common: Pride in what we do, knowing every moment matters here. We invite you to become part of Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network.
The Institute of Living, one of the first mental health centers in the U.S., remains one of America’s leading not-for-profit centers for patient care, research and education in the fields of behavioral, psychiatric and addiction disorder. Through our dedicated, experienced and skilled clinicians, we provide patients and their families with the highest quality of personalized care. Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Services.
Job Summary
We are seeking an excellent and motivated post-baccalaureate clinical research assistant (CRA) to join a National Institute on Mental Health funded study on autism spectrum disorder (ASD), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). The new hire will be integrated into the Olin Neuropsychiatry Research Center in Hartford, CT and trained to conduct research on both psychiatric populations and community controls.
This project is a collaboration of the Autism & Functional Mapping Laboratory, directed by Dr. Michal Assaf, and the Steele Lab, directed by Dr. Vaughn Steele. Overlapping lab expertise allow us to combine methods (fMRI and TMS) in clinical populations (ASD) in a novel study of social cognition.
CRAs will work closely with the PIs and other CRAs and are expected to help recruit, screen, and run community members with and without ASD through the study. A two-year minimum commitment is required.
A great attitude, excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively in a team, take initiative, and lead are highly desired. Opportunities to present at conferences and to write papers are available (commensurate with skills and experience). In-depth training and personalized mentoring will be provided on an ongoing basis. This position will likely be enjoyable, challenging, and educational as it will serve as an ideal springboard for graduate school in psychology, medicine or neuroscience.
