Job Summary:

The System Supervisor will have primary hospitals and also cover in other regions.  The supervisor in the Hartford Region has responsibility for Hartford Hospital, Backus, Windham and Norwich outpatient clinic.  The supervisor in the west regions has responsibility for St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Central region (HOCC, MidState, Outpatient facility in Southington) and Charlotte Hungerford.

 

The System Supervisor, Hartford region, is responsible for the daily operations and clinical quality of the largest Neurodiagnostic lab in Hartford Healthcare.  Hartford Hospital is the hub of our epilepsy surgery program, and houses our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, SPECT, PET and Wada procedures, as well as an outpatient lab.  This supervisor also has direct oversight of the neurodiagnostic aspects of epilepsy surgery, including intracranial EEG and cortical mapping procedures. We have a very collaborative and team-oriented approach to patient centered care. The Supervisor will work closely with the Lab Manager, System Director of Neurodiagnostics, Epilepsy Medical Director, and technologists. Our shared goals are providing outstanding patient-centered care while also advancing the leadership skills, clinical knowledge and careers of all our team members.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

1. Responsible for daily management of department such as oversight of: staff shift assignments, live EEG monitoring, interpersonal staff concerns, clinical quality and safety, EEG supplies/ storage, cleanliness and organization of workspace, maintains tracking board and lean board, triage of incoming orders.  The supervisor provides leadership within the lab, leading daily huddles, serving as a liaison between staff and manager, communicating with partner services (nurses, ICU, nuclear medicine, etc), demonstrates leadership behaviors in daily work.

2. Oversight of neurodiagnostic aspects of epilepsy surgery, including procedures for intracranial EEG, cortical mapping, SPECT, PET and Wada.

3. Responsible for EEG equipment and data management, working with our information technology partners to maintain data acquisition processes, storage, and technical quality.  This also includes partnering with BioMed to ensure hardware remains functional, and with vendor services to ensure equipment and software are operational.  

4. Oversight of quality and data tracking of the EEG results ensuring timeliness of EEG acquisition, competency of technologists, appropriate work load level, and error correction.  Works with manager to maintain updated lab policies and accreditation.

5. Assists the System Neurodiagnostic Educator with onboarding new staff, training and managing preceptors, maintaining and adding new competencies and skills, and ensuring staff career development.

6. Partnering with leaders and techs at other labs in Hartford Healthcare to ensure all techs receive appropriate education and career opportunities.

 

 • Graduate of a school of neurophysiology and/or Associates degree acceptable.

 • Minimum 5 years clinical experience performing complex EEG evaluations. Competency in EEG related computer hardware and software. Expert level of competency in neurodiagnostic procedures and knowledge.

 • Minimum 1-year experience with intracranial EEG and surgical epilepsy techniques

 • Minimum 1-year experience in teaching or oversight of EEG Techs.

 • Current Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic (EEG) and Evoked Potential (EP) Technologists (ABRET).

 

 

 

Qualifications

 • Graduate of a school of neurophysiology and/or Associates degree acceptable.

 • Minimum 5 years clinical experience performing complex EEG evaluations. Competency in EEG related computer hardware and software. Expert level of competency in neurodiagnostic procedures and knowledge.

 • Minimum 1-year experience with intracranial EEG and surgical epilepsy techniques

 • Minimum 1-year experience in teaching or oversight of EEG Techs.

 • Current Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic (EEG) and Evoked Potential (EP) Technologists (ABRET).
