We all know someone who has struggled with addiction, and the toll that alcohol and drugs can take. That’s why the  Hartford HealthCare Behavioral Health Network and Rushford will be opening The Ridge Recovery Center, a first of its kind facility in Windham, CT. Located on 55 secluded acres off Route 32,  The Ridge will combine evidence-based treatment with wellness activities and amenities in a private, professional setting that includes private rooms, larger gathering areas, private meeting rooms, a comfortable dining room, fitness gym, and office space. The site also includes peaceful outdoor spaces and walking trails ideal for those in recovery who want to exercise, do yoga or go bird watching, just to name a few activities.

Job Summary

The Assistant Nursing manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. This position supervises a work group to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective patient and family centered care is provided in support of the organization's strategic plan, and the function's goals and objectives.

This position works collaboratively with functional leadership and is responsible for the oversight of daily operations of the assigned department including off shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff. This position manages resources, quality improvement, payroll, creating and maintaining colleague schedules and monitors patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinical operations. In addition, this position is responsible for a safe and therapeutic unit environment, which includes working in the department as staff RN to assist as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Works with Nurse Manager in adjusting the unit staffing pattern to reflect changes in care requirements, patient census and staffing resources.
  2. Manages and develops colleagues to include performance feedback and reviews, promotions, salary recommendations, corrective action and terminations. Coaches, develops and inspires staff to maximize their potential.
  3. Manages staffing schedule and payroll to include monitoring and addressing attendance issues.
  4. Promotes compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory body standards by consistent rounding and performing quarterly and monthly tracers and audits.
  5. Assists nursing leadership with investigating and following up on patient relations concerns, Infection Control, colleague health exposures and Compliance issues.
  6. Communicates department/leadership decisions and policies to colleagues. Facilitates the flow of information from hospital leadership to the nursing staff regarding patient care procedures and new equipment.  Leads departmental huddles.
  7. Participates on department and organization committees as directed.
  8. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited institution
  • BSN is preferred
  • Three years of RN experience
  • One to two years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Registered Nurse license in the State of CT
