The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.
The Emergency Department at HOCC New Britain campus is a 47 bed unit (including a Fast Track area) that cares for patients across the spectrum of age, health, education, etc. The staff includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Associates, Unit Secretaries, Physicians, Mid-Level practitioners, support staff, Public Safety Officers, and in-department radiology. The Emergency Department is equipped with all tools needed to safely care for any patient from central station cardiac monitoring to ultrasound equipment, to a specialized treatment space for patients needing behavioral health interventions, to our EHR (Epic ASAP). We are a primary stroke & STEMI center. All staff work together and in a supportive environment to make sure we have a safe environment for our staff & patients, working the most efficiently, and providing the highest level of satisfaction for our staff & patients.
The Emergency Department (ED) Assistant Nursing manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. This position supervises a work group to ensure that high quality, cost-effective patient and family centered care is provided in support of the hospital's strategic plan.
This position works collaboratively with ED leadership and is responsible for the oversight of daily operations of the ED including off shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff. This position manages resources, quality improvement, payroll, creating and maintaining colleague schedules and monitors patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinical operations. In addition, this position is responsible for a safe and therapeutic unit environment, which includes working in the ED as staff RN to assist as needed.
This position also participates in and may lead Performance Improvement work in the Emergency Department.
Qualifications
Prior experience working in as an RN in an ED preferred.
Prior charge or management experience preferred.
Registered Nurse, State of CT
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certified in ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC
