Standard Hours: 24
Job Shift: Shift 1
Shift Details: Mon, Tues, Wed, and Friday 8am-230pm. No holidays or weekends.

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut.  CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment.

 

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Performs reception, clerical, and general secretarial functions

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  2. Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.

  3. Schedules and verifies insurance coverage for all patients entering programs. Obtain pre-authorization as needed.

  4. Performs registration functions of all new and recurring patients

  5. Enters patient charge data into computer and performs charge audit.

  6. Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients.  Ascertains the nature of their business; assists and/or directs visitors and patients to various locations in the Hungerford Center when appropriate. 

  7. Establishes and maintains files and records on an ongoing basis.  Prepares medical record chart requests.

  8. Maintains adequate supply of department clerical/clinical supplies.

  9. Input and follow-up with equipment and facility repairs/requests.

  10. Participates in educational and in-service meetings.

  11. Attends meetings as required.

  12. Performs all other related duties assigned.

     

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

1.   Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

2.   Medical terminology

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

High School diploma or equivalent required.  This job requires vocational/technical training beyond high school

 

EXPERIENCE   

This position requires at least 6 months but less than one year of job related experience.
